Admin capability to unlock a user's timesheet

As an admin, I want to be able to unlock a user's timesheet for a specific period if they have locked it in error. This would allow the user to correct their own mistakes, rather than placing the responsibility on the admin to fix the errors. I recognize there are risks with this functionality, but it would be a helpful option.

Not aware of the current functionality but years behind we had a functionality for handling the TS-entries called “Traffic Lights”. The idea was the following: a) At company level it will be defined the ultimate locking dates, typically the last date of the month + <customer-defined “additional dates”> for each month b) all the TS-entries should be done daily basis, still by Sunday (due to f.ex overtime work or subcontractor’s work). This is the “green” period during the which the changes are allowed by the user. When the hours are accepted by the user, he/she will submit it. The color changes to yellow c) by Monday the supervisor for administrative work and project manager for the billable work are entitle to approve the “ yellow hours” - color of the TS-entry will be changed to red. These approvals are not allowed to change by the user. Instead, if the change is needed, the user requests the permission, changing back to green and submit it to yellow and later red d) when the monthly invoicing is taken place, the software raises all the invoiceable “red” hours the project and when invoiced the color will be “grey”. What was the aim? a) better visual understanding for the missing and unapproved hours b) give a better understanding for the monthly income estimation c) make sure that all the invoiceable hours will charged d) approval process to find the bottlenecks before invoicing which wanted to be a smooth and straightforward work (because customers do not pay for the used time). Even though it raised some bureaucracy for the project managers, it was paid back with faster invoicing passthrough time.
